Q and A Saturdays - Supplements

My plan is to feature a different Etsy artist every Friday, but I'm not ready today.  Next week I am going to feature a Pittsburgh artist whose work I adore, and host a giveaway, so make sure you come back next Friday!

So, I'm going to give you an extra day to leave a comment for "Q and A Saturdays".  Here's what "Q and A Saturdays" are all about... (from my Page)

*I often find myself wondering, "How do other mom's do this?"  Keeping the paper clutter under control, for instance.  What is the secret?

Maybe you don't like to ask your mom friends these questions?   Maybe you like to give off the illusion that you already have all the answers?  Well you can ask me, and I'll post the question on Q & A Saturday. I don't even have to mention your name, if you don't want me to.  Or, if you're like me, and have no problem admitting defeat, I'll happily link to you.  If you have a question, email it to me at getyourmomon@yahoo.com, and let me know if you want me to link to you.

Those of you who have the answers to our questions, I really hope you'll take a minute to leave a comment with your advice!*

I don't know if it is my age, but i seem to be taking a ridiculous amount of pills in the mornings.  I found an old Prevention article that I saved that says that 96% of registered dietitians take at least one supplement, according to a survey.  84% take a multivitamin, 64% take calcium, 47% take fish oil, 43% take vitamin D, and 29% take vitamin C.  (The article was written by Sara Wahlberg).  I'm taking all five of those right now!

So, the question this week is... Do you take any supplements and if so, which ones?  Do you think they help?

  1. I take a lot of supplements and yes I think they help. I take Selenium to help my body absorb my thyroid hormone (that I have to take pills for) and I do feel it gives me more energy. In the winter I take vitamin D to help with energy and mood and it helps immensely. I also take Magnesium, Zinc and Calcium and I take a one a day to get my Iron. I don't want to get too much Iron so I don't take an extra Iron supplement. I've also just started taking a natural supplement for my anxiety and depression. I can't remember the name of it. If you take any prescription meds they can rob your body of natural nutrients, as shown by Dr. Suzy Cohen (www.dearpharmacist.com). And no, she's not paying me. :-) And this isn't spam, I swear! It's just me! Lisa!!! :-)

  2. Right now all I take is a multivitamin and fish oil...sporadically. I need to be better about this. My mom swears by fish oil and vitamin C. This has motivated me to start doing this regularly.

  3. I take the Vitamin C and Echinacea in the winter, to avoid getting sick. I just started the Vitamin D, because we get so little sunshine here in Pittsburgh in the winter, and it seriously affects my mood. I take Calcium, because I'm allergic to milk, so I don't get a lot of Calcium. I take a probiotic for stomach issues. My family care doctor suggested I take the fish oil for dryness. My mom is very much into "natural" medicine, and she is in amazing shape for her age, so who knows?

Thanks for the comments, Lisa, and blue china studio.
